    Clarke Nicholls Marcel, Civil & Structural Engineers were instructed by our clients to carry out a structural report including extensive calculations on Hayden Barn in January 2019 in order to ascertain the barns suitability for conversion for domestic usage.

    Their conclusions are as follows:
    •The original frameworks can be retained to support the existing room loading.
    •New works can be self-supporting and built off the existing slabs.
    •The structural frames of the barns can be retained without recourse to demolition or major repair.
    •The conversion works will be able to be constructed with lightweight materials so as to meet the building regulations and to accommodate the upgrade from agricultural to domestic design requirements.
    •The gable end steelwork will be able to support the glazed end wall without the need for replacement or structural alteration.
